Ilusión -that means excitement-, is a Spanish pasodoble influenced by andalusian music style. This band work was commisioned by the son of the marriage, a Valencian trumpetist, so that is the reason of having a trumpet solo during the second part of it.

Andalusian concert piece for 2* trumpets and concert band commissioned by José Chafer and the 38th International Trumpet Guild, Michigan (USA).
The Sierra de los Filabres is the largest and most central mountain range in the province of Almeria and is part of a chain of mountains extending eastwards from Granada province. The Calar Alto, the ranges highest peak at over 2,000m above sea level, houses the Calar Alto Observatory, holding significant astronomical importance in the region. Also above 2,000m are the peaks of the Tetica de Bacares and the Calar Gallinero.
A surreal landscape of dramatic hills and valleys, rustic villages, abandoned hamlets and deserted cortijos. The lower hills and valleys are graced with almond and olive trees, higher up the mountains the countryside switches to woodlands, having been reforested, the area is abundant with holm oaks and pine trees creating an excellent habitat for bird species. Seasonal climate variations flaunt changes in scenery and the winter months will often see snow on the mountains.
Concertino de los Filabres, Op.54 tries to describe with music not only this great mountain range but also all people who have lived there such as the own composer's antecessors.

José Chafer and the 38th International Trumpet Guild, Michigan, United States.
Work composed for solo tenor saxophone and concert band inspired by the music styles from the cities such as the Blues, Swing, Jazz, Rock, Ska, Reggae, Cha cha cha, Salsa, Mambo, etc.
Program notes
The current saxophonist is widely linked to the city culture and is considered in most cases as a creator of an eclectic and versatile art looking for new sounds and assuming an important own initiative without forgetting the past cultural roots. Similarly, Urban Concert provides an overview of the musical styles from urban life, linked in a dynamic and colorful way, plenty of fun and surprises.

Descriptive and symphonic fantasy based on the legendary and wild west winner by the Akademia Music Awards, Los Ángeles.
Program notes
Winner by the Akademia Music Awards, Los Ángeles (Best Ambient / Instrumental Music Category).
Far West Fantasy is an easy concert band composition that allows people not only have fun by playing or listening to it but also travel to the legendary Far West. Divided into four musical sections, this work tells us some old western scenes.
At the beginning and in a romantic sunrise scene, a cowboy rides his horse in a calm mood inside the fantastic landscape of the Great American Desert -listen to the temple block player imitating the steps of the horse-.
The second section describes a fantastic train journey through the Kansas Pacific Railway (a historic railroad from the 19th Century). From time to time, you can see some US army soldiers riding his horses across the Missouri River.
When arriving to Colorado the music turns into a magic rain dance scene sang and danced by a Navajo tribe (represented by the musicians). This third section uses some old Navajo words during the spell.
A little transition leads us get to the brilliant final scene: a big party at the best Far West saloon. When everybody is having a great time and everything can´t be better, suddenly, Buffalo Bill´s horse emerges alone at the saloon neighing and trying to join the party. After some silence, people start laughing a lot and continue dancing and drinking till the next day.

A trip to Spain, also known as Un viaje por España, is a descriptive composition for concert band where we can find five pieces inspired by the traditional music styles from Seville, Granada, Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.
The first movement, A night in Seville, is an enthusiastic and joyful band work composed in the style of the spanish sevillanas, the most famous music style not only from the city of Seville but also from Andalusia.
The second piece, Romance in the Alhambra, tells us some stories. Since its construction by the Muslims in the 9th century there have been many romantic affairs inside their bright and sensual palaces. Arabic king Boabdil had to leave his lands in 1492 after losing the war against catholic kings Ferdinand and Isabella and Granada was Spanish again after 777 years of Arabic invasion.
A bear climbing into a strawberry tree is the main symbol of the capital of Spain, Madrid, and the chotis is the most representative music from their citizens. In this third movement, Chotis of the bear and the strawberry tree, the bear starts to dance a chotis with the strawberry tree in a comical and passionate way.
Through the fourth piece, Sardana in Castell de Montjuic, we can travel to the Middle Ages. The sardana is a medieval dance from Catalonia and Castell de Montjuic is the most famous castle of Barcelona.
Canadians in Valencia is the final movement of this composition. It has been composed using the national anthems of Canada and Spain, both of them turned into one of the most famous music styles of Valencia, the pasodoble. At the end of the piece and in a cheerful way, the two anthems are played simultaneously and a little music pattern taken from and old bullfighting song is chosen for ending this band work.

Descriptive composition inspired by traditional Irish music.
Program notes
An Irish Dream tells to the audience a fantastic story. Once upon a time, a little girl fell asleep and started to dream that she was flying over the most beautiful Irish landscapes. Through the clouds she could see fairies and elves dancing, celebrations inside medieval castles, old songs coming from ancient monasteries... Inside her mind, everything is possible.
