un tilo de sombra azul, recuerdo a mi ciudad.
Estoy muy triste, algo no funciona bien;
necesito a un amigo de verdad.

- Soy Quirón, el que nació del mar;
tu mejor amigo en esta ciudad.

- Ya puedo ver cabalgar.
Ahora ya, yo puedo ver
sobre el lomo de Quirón.
¡Yo quiero hacer!
¡Yo quiero hacer
algo por él!

- Yo me quedo, ahora sé lo que hacer;
en esta universidad estudiaré.
¡Ahora sé que en Cartagena me querrán!
¡Ahora sé que esta es mi universidad!

This solemn hymn, divided into three sections and based on a poem by A. Garrido Hernández, has the particularity of being designed only for four performers (with the optionality of replacing the vocal soloist with a small unisonal choir). Notice the important development of the musical motives while the melodic line of the voice is really romantic. The work ends whith a lively Allegro con spirito.
