Program notes
I. Fanfarria
II. Nocturno
III. Finale
The trumpeter Ángel Serrano commissioned this work to Pérez Garrido in Vienna, 2008, for a special concert to be held just a couple of days after the commission. Javier accepted and the work was composed from March 21th to 22th (at the same time that he rehearsed as a clarinetist with the OJRM orchestra, as well as during the nights). The world premiere was at Konservatorium Wien (the Vienna Conservatory, Austria) on the 23rd. It is divided into three moovements, as a classic "divertimento" with some nods to Mozart but in a modern aesthetic.
A Fanfare opens the piece in a marcial way. Then, a nocturnal composed during a cold Viennese night sing a moving tune. Arriving to the third movement, the Finale, there appears some motives based on octatonic scales with counterpoint development. It's important to highlight that the music sometimes runs over the stage generating spatial movements.
