I. Invocación
II. Aparición del Diablo
This composition represents, as the title suggests, an invocation of the devil, followed by its appearance and a frenzied dance. Everything will happen in a darkness place... Performers can wear tunics and play next to some candles. 13 old metronomes are compulsory.
During the Invocación -invocation- musicians have not only to play but also to speak or shout invoking the demon. Some aleatory patterns are developed while percussion continues playing drums and chains. Everything is going quickier, tensions start rising... Then, random spoken fragments combined with other instrumental sounds advance without stopping, accompanied with the metronomes. However, this achieved "chaos" stops suddenly with a silence announcing the appearance of the devil.
And that's when the Aparición del Diablo starts. He, like a snake, slides mainly between the free cadences of the English horn. Sometimes, the demon changes into other instruments whose enormous plasticity is marked by countless accelerations, decelerations, fermatas or tempo changes.
The Danza diabólica is a frenzied dance where the powers of this infernal being are shown. With it the cycle of three scenes is closed in a continuos way.
