 About Antonio García Gil

He was born in San Fulgencio (Alicante). At the age of 11, encouraged by his uncle and grandfather, he began solfeggio classes at the Unión Musical de San Fulgencio under the guidance of Maestro Ventura Cartagena and joined the music band in 1986, playing the euphonium as a member of the first team of this Unión Musical.

He studied at the Municipal Conservatory of Music in Almoradí and at the Oscar Esplá Higher Conservatory of Music in Alicante, where he obtained a Higher Degree with Extraordinary Award in the Euphonium Specialty. He has studied euphonium with professors José Antonio Mira, Eduardo Peris, and Jesús Juan Oriola, and has participated in numerous advanced courses with various prestigious teachers, especially with Mel Culberson.

He has collaborated in concerts, festivals, and competitions with numerous musical groups such as the Unión Musical Santa Cecilia de Rojales, Unión Musical de Los Montesinos, Unión Musical de Guardamar, Unión Musical de Redován, the Philharmonic Society of Agost, and the Unión Musical Torrevejense, and since 1988 he has been a member of the Sociedad Unión Musical de Almoradí. Throughout his career as an instrumentalist, he has been conducted by prominent figures in the world of music bands such as D. Manuel Berná, Jaime Belda, and José Vicente Díaz Alcaina.

He studied harmony, counterpoint, and fugue with Joan Enric Canet, Monserrat Bellés, and Manuel Berná. He began conducting studies under Francisco Cabrelles and Juan Antonio Espinosa, and also completed numerous courses in orchestra, choir, and band conducting with teachers such as Norman Milanés, Manuel Silva, Enrique García Asensio, Ángel Crespo, Manuel Mondéjar, José Miguel Rodilla, José Rafael Vilaplana, and Jan Cober.

In 1991, he began his teaching activity at the Music School of the Unión Musical de San Fulgencio, taking over the direction of the band at the end of 1994. He has conducted concerts as a guest conductor at the Unión Musical de Almoradí, Agrupación Musical de Beniaján, Unión Musical de San Miguel de Salinas, and the OSCOA Orchestra.

During the eleven years (1994-2005) as the Principal Conductor of the Unión Musical San Fulgencio, he organized numerous festivals, concerts, and competitions, winning various awards in contests and competitions. In 2001/2002, he participated with this band in the recording of two CDs published by the Rojales City Council featuring works by Maestro Ventura.

He was the Principal Conductor of the Asociación Musical Santiago Apóstol de Albatera during the years 2014/2015.

Since January 2007, he has been at the helm of the Unión Musical de Torre Pacheco (Murcia). With the Unión Musical de Torre Pacheco, he recorded a CD in 2008 and has achieved various awards in different competitions.
