The renowned composer Javier Pérez Garrido will be one of the major highlights of the VII Clarinet Meeting of the Region of Murcia (2025), where he will premiere an original composition specially commissioned for this event: Bulería Spirit, Op.67. This work for solo clarinet, inspired by the energy and spirit of flamenco, promises to be one of the standout moments of the festival. With its vibrant progression, blending the frenetic rhythm of the bulería, a romantic central melody, and a triumphant return to the initial intensity, Bulería Spirit will immerse the audience in a unique experience of passion and emotion.

The premiere of this piece will be accompanied by an exclusive masterclass that Javier Pérez Garrido will lead during the event, titled "How to Compose for Clarinet". In this class, aimed at clarinetists, composers, and conductors, Pérez Garrido will share his insights on composing for the clarinet, exploring the techniques and challenges involved in writing for this fascinating instrument.

The Clarinet Meeting, organized by SAM Santa Cecilia de Pozo Estrecho, is one of the most important gatherings for clarinetists worldwide, bringing together professional musicians, students, and enthusiasts for a wide range of activities, including concerts, exhibitions, and masterclasses. This seventh edition will feature renowned artists such as Richard Hosford (London BBC Orchestra principal clarinetist), J. E. Romero, Gonzalo Berná Pic, and Pilar Picó, further solidifying the event’s reputation as a leading platform in the national and international music scene.

This gathering, which has become a tradition in the region, offers a unique opportunity to experience the best of the clarinet and chamber music world while also serving as a showcase for the creativity of composers and musicians whose talent and passion are making a significant impact on the contemporary music scene.

The Clarinet Meeting will take place on November 15, with registration closing on November 9. Click here for more details or to sign up. See you soon!
