Next Saturday, during the XXX Contemporary Music Encounter, musicians and enthusiasts of avant-garde music will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a unique sonic landscape as the composition "Niebla" by Javier Pérez Garrido receives its world premiere. This score, conceived as a musico-visual and indeterministic experience, will be performed for the first time by the Kuraia Ensemble from Bilbao, under the direction of Andrea Cazzaniga.
The Conservatorio Superior de Música de Navarra in Pamplona will serve as the stage for this exciting debut, which is part of the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the Contemporary Music Encounters. In addition to "Niebla," the concert will feature other contemporary compositions by notable authors, including works by Javier Torres Maldonado and Alicia Díaz de la Fuente, as well as premieres by young talents such as Izaro Txapartegui and Educardo Marín Cortés, students of the conservatory under the guidance of Professor Joseba Torre.
"Niebla" (fog) is presented as a work of free and translucent sonic expression, where each musician is tasked with choosing from a variety of sounds to construct a mystical and diffuse soundscape. With a structure composed of twelve segments, the piece draws inspiration from pictorial and musical symbolism, incorporating the number three and the geometric shape of the rhombus to create an experience that is both visual and auditory.
Composer Pérez Garrido describes "Niebla" as "a creation that invites the audience to immerse themselves in a world of sensations where music becomes a means to explore the ethereal and the abstract."
The event, scheduled to take place at 12:30 PM in the Guelbenzu Hall of the conservatory, promises to be the highlight of a week dedicated to showcasing the current landscape of musical creation. With "Niebla," attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a unique musical work that seeks to explore new horizons within the realm of contemporary music.
